Scope

Comprehensive design and construction solution for a 60-bed Mental Health Domiciliary to provide facilities for a Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program.

2-story, 30,000 sq. ft. design includes Patient Care Units or “Pods”, consisting of (15) semi-private rooms with two beds per room, a 60-seat dining room, servery kitchen, training kitchen, computer/job development room and access to patient intake and clinical therapy services. The main entry lobby is the central core with a reception desk, visitor waiting room, public restrooms and vertical transportation to common areas on each floor. Administrative provisions include staff offices, nurse work stations and security office as well as space for work stations as required for additional support staff. Clinical space provisions include offices for consultation, recreational therapist, dietician, an exam room and two large therapy rooms.

Challenges

Overcoming budgetary constraints surrounding this procurement.

After months of extensive programming sessions with the service’s staff, our team experienced a change in leadership in the Mental Health Department at the facility that forced the team to revisit the design concepts previously established and enter back into additional discussions and review of the design concepts to ensure they would align with the new leadership’s vision for the future Mental Health program at the domiciliary.
